SB IPB University Welcomes New Master’s and Doctoral Students
Bogor, 9 May 2026 – The IPB University School of Business held the Opening Ceremony for its Master’s and Doctoral Programs on Saturday, 9 May 2026, at the Jati Room, Building A, SB IPB University Campus, Bogor. The event marked an important starting point for new students to become more familiar with the academic environment, the direction of learning, and the core values that serve as the foundation of education at the IPB University School of Business.
The event began with welcoming remarks from the Dean of the IPB University School of Business, Prof. Dr. Ir. Noer Azam Achsani, MS, who greeted the new students warmly and enthusiastically. In his remarks, Prof. Azam emphasized the importance of viewing the learning process as an effort to deepen knowledge, rather than merely pursuing an academic degree.
The next remarks were delivered by Prof. Dr. Ir. Ujang Sumarwan, MSc, Head of the Master’s and Doctoral Programs at the IPB University School of Business. In his presentation, Prof. Ujang explained the history and development of IPB University and the IPB University School of Business as part of a higher education ecosystem that continues to grow and adapt to the changing needs of the times.
During the academic orientation session, Zenal Asikin, PhD, Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni, together with Dr. Nur Hasanah, S.Kom., M.Eng, Secretary of the Master’s Program, provided an overview of the academic system, learning governance, and student development throughout the course of study at the IPB University School of Business.
One of the key points highlighted during the session was the philosophical foundation of the IPB University School of Business, which views business as a discipline centered on services. From this perspective, business is understood not only as the exchange of goods and services, but also as a process of value creation that brings benefits to society. Through creativity, collaboration, and responsibility, business is expected to promote equality, prosperity, and human well-being.
Through this opening event, the IPB University School of Business reaffirmed its commitment to providing business education that is relevant, values-driven, and impactful. Master’s and Doctoral students are expected to undertake their academic journey with a strong passion for learning, an open mindset, and a commitment to making meaningful contributions to the business world, society, and the development of Indonesia.
