SB IPB University Strengthens Research Competencies through VOSviewer and Publish or Perish Mentoring Class

School of Business IPB University held a Mentoring Class titled “Utilizing VOSviewer & PoP to Identify Research Trends and Research Networks” on September 12, 2026, at the SB IPB University Computer Laboratory. The activity was part of SB IPB University’s efforts to strengthen research competencies and encourage the use of technology to support a more systematic research process.

The mentoring session featured Fery Siswadi, S.E., M.M., Librarian at IPB Library, who provided both insights and hands-on practice on the use of VOSviewer and Publish or Perish (PoP). These tools can be utilized to explore publication data, identify research trends, map connections between topics, and examine research networks in a more structured manner.

Through a practical and interactive session, participants had the opportunity to explore publication data as part of the research development process. The use of these tools can also support topic exploration, literature review development, and the mapping of research trends within a particular field.

The activity reflects School of Business IPB University’s commitment to fostering an academic environment that supports the development of research capacity. Strengthening information literacy and the effective use of research technologies are expected to encourage an increasingly adaptive, data-informed, and relevant academic process.
