Sukses menyelenggarakan e-summer course selama sepuluh hari sejak tanggal 05-13 Juli 2021, Sekolah Bisnis IPB University (SB-IPB) mengajak ratusan peserta dari tiga belas negara untuk menikmati budaya nusantara secara virtual.
Setelah melewati serangkaian perkuliahan online yang mengusung topik “The New Dynamics of Business Innovation & Engineering: Creating and Protecting Value in the Era of Industry 4.0 & Society 5.0” yang diisi oleh sebelas pengajar professional dari tujuh universitas mancanegara, SB-IPB menutup program e-summer course melalui rangkaian kegiatan seperti international competition, virtual visit dan gelaran budaya nusantara. Kunjungan budaya secara virtual tersebut dilakukan di Batik Bogor Tradisiku dan Gerai Nusantara. Peserta diajak untuk berkunjung secara live melalui zoom yang dipandu oleh Mojang dan Jajaka Bogor.
Kunjungan secara live ke Batik Bogor Tradisiku memberikan pengalaman kepada peserta untuk belajar mengenai proses pembuatan batik, dari mulai menggambar pola, mencanting, pewarnaan, menghilangkan lilin malam hingga proses akhir menjahit menjadi produk sesuai minat pasar. Peserta yang mengikuti secara virtual antusias mengikuti kunjungan tersebut dan menyampaikan ketertarikannya pada berbagai produk yang ditunjukkan. Salah satu produk yang menarik perhatian diantaranya masker dengan motif trendi dan ketopong yaitu ikat kepala ala masyarakat Suku Sunda. Pada kunjungan tersebut dijelaskan motif khas yang merupakan ikon Bogor diantaranya kujang, rusa, teratai, dan beberapa motif lain yang terinspirasi dari keanekaragaman hayati dan budaya Bogor.
Peserta e-summer course juga melakukan kunjungan virtual ke Gerai Nuasantara untuk melihat produk-produk inovasi dari masyarakat adat yang ada diseluruh pelosok negeri. Peserta diajak untuk melihat berbagai kain tenun yang dipintal secara manual dan diwarnai menggunakan pewarna alami. Kain-kain cantik dari berbagai daerah itu diceritakan secara detil makna dari setiap motif dan penggunaannya. Selain itu ada juga hiasan dinding, perhiasan dan tas cantik dari Baduy, Kalimantan, Papua yang tak kalah menarik perhatian peserta.
Pada penutupan kegiatan, program e-summer course BIM berkolaborasi dengan organisasi Himpunan Mahasiswa Profesi (Himpro) SB-IPB yaitu ABEST (Association of Business and Entrepreneurship Student). Peserta diajak menikmati kompilasi lagu-lagu daerah yang dinyanyikan secara medley diselingi video berbagai destinasi wisata alam di Indonesia.
Pada rangkaian sesi penutupan, peserta dari mancanegara berkesempatan juga untuk mengenalkan budaya di negaranya masing-masing dengan bercerita mengenai makanan khas daerah, tarian, tempat menarik, tren maupun kebiasaan unik. Dalam sesi testimoni, peserta asing turut menyampaikan harapan agar situasi pandemi yang sedang dihadapi semakin membaik sehingga mereka dapat melihat dan merasakan langsung pengalaman belajar di SB-IPB sekaligus mengenal lebih dekat budaya Indonesia.
Program E-summer Course BIM 2021 yang merupakan kerjasama antara SB-IPB University dengan Universiti Utara Malaysia, Putra Business School Malaysia, Hiroshima University Japan, Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan, Adam Smith Business School United Kingdom, Warsaw University of Life Sciences Polandia, dan Kirirom Institute of Technology Cambodia pada akhirnya telah resmi ditutup dengan adanya pengumuman kategori pemenang dalam kompetisi internasional mulai dari kategori best paper, best e-poster, best presenter, best undergraduate student dan best postgraduate student. Sebanyak dua orang mahasiswa SB-IPB yaitu Ardelia Nadhilah Rosyad dan Istianah meraih kategori “Best Student” pada kegiatan International E-Summer Course Business Innovation and Management (BIM) 2021 yang merupakan kerjasama antara Sekolah Bisnis IPB University (SB-IPB) dengan tujuh universitas mancanegara (14/07).
Kegiatan yang berjalan selama sepuluh hari ini melibatkan sebelas pengajar professional dari berbagai universitas diantaranya SB-IPB University Indonesia (Prof. Dr. Noer Azam Achsani dan Dr. Idqan Fahmi), Universiti Utara Malaysia (Associate Prof. Farizal Rajemi dan Dr. Emy Ezura), Putra Business School Malaysia (Prof. Sazali Abdul Wahab dan Dr. Ahmad Shaharuddin), Hiroshima University Japan (Dr Yusuke Hayashi), Warsaw University of Life Sciences Polandia (Dr. Rafal Balina), Kirirom Institute of Technology Cambodia (Dr. Masamu Kamaga), Tokyo University of Agriculture Japan (Dr. Ramadhona Saville), dan Adam Smith Business School United Kingdom (Dr. Marianna Koukou).
Pada rangkaian kegiatan e-summer course ini peserta tidak hanya sekedar mengikuti perkuliahan secara daring namun wajib menyelesaikan berbagai penugasan individu dan tim sebagai bagian dari penilaian juri. Peserta ditantang untuk menulis paper yang berkaitan dengan topik utama “The New Dynamics of Business Innovation & Engineering: Creating and Protecting Value in the Era of Industry 4.0 & Society 5.0” dalam kurun waktu lima hari yang kemudian harus dipresentasikan setelah rangkaian perkuliahan selesai dihadapan para juri. Adapun empat juri yang melakukan penilaian terdiri dari Dr. Emy Ezura dan Associate Prof. Farizal Rajemi (Universitas Utara Malaysia) serta Dr. M. Mukti Ali dan Dr. Idqan Fahmi (SB-IPB).
Sebagai perwakilan pemenang dari SB-IPB, Ardelia berhasil menduduki peringkat pertama sedangkan Istianah menduduki peringkat kedua pada kategori “Best Postgraduated Student”. Adapun posisi ketiga diraih oleh Bavaani a/p Balakrishnan dari Universiti Utara Malaysia. Selain berlaku pada tingkat pascasarjana, kategori “Best Student” berlaku juga pada peserta tingkat Sarjana. Kategori “Best Undergraduated Student” berhasil diraih oleh seluruh mahasiswa asing dengan urutan pemenang 1-3 sebagai berikut : Chlarissa Mae C. Urbi (Mariano Marcos State University, Philippines), Mark Gil C. Adorna (Mariano Marcos State University, Philippines), Yaw Jia Min (Universiti Utara Malaysia).
Pada International Competition E-Summer Course BIM 2021, selain kategori “Best Student” terdapat juga kategori lain yang dilombakan yaitu “Best Paper”, “Best E-Poster” dan “Best Presenter”. Kategori tersebut ditentukan dari penilaian kelompok yang terdiri dari 4-5 peserta yang merupakan perpaduan peserta dari dalam maupun luar negeri. Beberapa judul paper yang meraih terbaik peringkat pertama yaitu “Online Food Delivery Services During COVID-19 Pandemic: Potential, Prospects, Plausibility” untuk kategori “Best Paper”, “Business Model during Covid-19 for Hotel Industry: A Literature Review” untuk kategori “Best E-Poster” dan “Social Business Model Canvas Analysis for Social Project: Feel Safe Application” untuk kategori “Best Presenter”.
Pada agenda penutupan e-summer course, Dr. Idqan Fahmi selaku Wakil Dekan bidang Akademik SB-IPB dan Prof. Sazali Abdul Wahab selaku narasumber dari Putra Business School Malaysia menyampaikan harapannya agar e-summer course ini menjadi ajang pembelajaran yang baik, sinergitas antar mahasiswa dari berbagai negara dan media untuk saling mengenalkan budaya bangsa. Sekolah Bisnis IPB University (SB-IPB) kembali menyelenggarakan International E-Summer Course Business Innovation and Management (BIM) untuk kedua kalinya (05/07). Pada tahun 2021 ini, e-summer course BIM mengusung topik “The New Dynamics of Business Innovation & Engineering: Creating and Protecting Value in the Era of Industry 4.0 & Society 5.0”. E-Summer course BIM 2021 merupakan kerjasama antara IPB University; University Utara Malaysia, Putra Business School, Hiroshima University, Tokyo University of Agriculture, Adam Smith Business School, Warsaw University of Life Sciences, dan Kirirom Institute of Technology. E-Summer Course BIM ini akan diselenggarakan secara virtual pada 05 – 14 Juli 2021.
Pembukaan menghadirkan Wakil Rektor Bidang Pendidikan dan Kemahasiswaan IPB University, Dr. Ir. Drajat Martianto, M.Si yang memberikan apresiasi kepada SB-IPB selaku host dan sambutan kepada seluruh peserta. Dekan Sekolah Bisnis IPB University, Prof Dr Noer Azam Achsani menyampaikan bahwa selain sebagai platform pendidikan virtual, e-summer course ini dapat memfasilitasi para peserta untuk membangun jejaring global dan mendapat pengayaan pengetahuan dari para pengajar maupun mahasiswa lintas negara.
“Sebanyak lebih dari 100 peserta dari 13 Universitas telah mendaftar. Peserta yang mengikuti program ini berasal dari 6 negara yaitu Indonesia, Malaysia, Jepang, Bangladesh, Filipina, dan China. Saat ini seluruh peserta telah menjadi bagian dari sivitas akademika Sekolah Bisnis IPB University. Saya harap kegiatan e-summer course ini bermanfaat bagi kita semua”, ungkap Dekan SB-IPB dalam sambutannya kepada seluruh peserta.
Terdapat 11 pengajar dari 7 universitas mancanegara yang akan menjadi narasumber dalam topik khusus yang menarik seputar Business Innovation and Management. Kegiatan e-summer course virtual ini dirancang dengan metode perkuliahan yang interaktif dan terdiri dari tiga kegiatan utama yaitu kuliah online (synchronous/asynchronous), kuis/Self-Assessment, dan Team Assignments. Peserta akan mendapat pengalaman mengeksplorasi unit bisnis di Kota Bogor melalui virtual visit dan mengikuti kompetisi internasional membuat paper/e-poster secara berkelompok. Pada akhir kegiatan akan diumumkan kategori pemenang seperti best student, best paper dan best e-poster. Ruang lingkup tema diskusi seputar (a) Organization, Entrepreneurship, and Business Model; (b) Operation Management of Logistics and Supply Chain; (c) Big data, Open innovation, and Smart Agriculture; dan (d) Business Cycle and Finance.

On 18 December 2020, Bogor Agricultural University (SB IPB) Business School together with the Bogor City Perumda Tirta Pakuan held an online press conference for the 2020 Bogor Perumda Tirta Pakuan Customer Satisfaction Survey. On this occasion was attended by the IPB Business School research team Fitriyah Shalihati, SE.MM, Suhendi, SP.MM, M. Bachtiar, STP, MM and Isma Anggareni, SP.MM and attended by the General Director of Perumda Tirta Pakuan Bogor Rino Indira and the management team of Perumda Tirta Pakuan Bogor. The event was opened directly by the Deputy Dean of Resources, Cooperation and Development of SB-IPB Dr. Nimmi Zulbairnarni, MSi.
The presentation of the results of the study was delivered by Fitriyah Shalihati, This presentation explained that Perumda Tirta Pakuan Bogor is a Regional Owned Enterprise (BUMD) owned by the City of Bogor which is engaged in clean water services for the people of Bogor. Perumda Tirta Pakuan should conduct an important evaluation to improve performance improvements. To Continuously improve the performance of its products and services, Perumda Tirta Pakuan conducts a Customer Satisfaction Survey (CSS) every year. High customer satisfaction will increase positive performance for Perumda Tirta Pakuan and loyalty for customers.
The customer satisfaction survey of Perumda Tirta Pakuan Kota Bogor in 2020 is generally intended to obtain a basis for consideration and reference in planning and decision-making aimed at increasing customer satisfaction. Evaluation and input from customers are expected to provide an overview of the needs of the people in Bogor for Perumda Tirta Pakuan Bogor City services. The objectives of the Customer Satisfaction Survey which will be carried out in 2020 are: 1) Profiling / identifying the characteristics and behavior of Perumda Tirta Pakuan customers; 2) Knowing the customer assessment of the service performance of Perumda Tirta Pakuan products in 2020; 3) Knowing the customer assessment of the service performance of Perumda Tirta Pakuan in 2020; 4) Provide input and recommendations to improve the service performance of Perumda Tirta Pakuan in the new normal era so that the level of customer satisfaction increases.
In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic will hit hard all business processes and change consumer or customer habits. Not only Perumda Tirta Pakuan has to adapt, but also customers due to this pandemic changing consumer behavior, namely 1) a stay at home lifestyle where all activities are carried out at home (working-living-playing) due to social distancing, 2) changing needs which returns to the bottom of the pyramid where when referring to Maslow’s pyramid, customers have now shifted their needs from the “top of the pyramid”, namely self-actualization and esteem to the “base of the pyramid”, namely food, health and safety of body and soul, 3) with the presence of COVID-19 customers avoid human physical contact, they switch to using virtual / digital media, and 4) the large number of casualties due to COVID-19 has created a new society full of empathy, compassion, and full of social solidarity (Yuswohady, 2020).
Based on the research method used, the selected respondents are the result of sampling carried out with a respondent clustering system using the Cluster Stratified and Systematical Unproporsional Sampling (CSUS) technique with 17 tariff groups matrixed with six sampling flow zones, totaling 964 (nine hundred and sixty four) respondents. The data processing and analysis methods used in this study are qualitative and quantitative analysis. Qualitative analysis was conducted descriptively which was used to analyze customer characteristics. Quantitative analysis is used to evaluate the performance and level of importance of program attributes for respondents using the Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) and Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) analysis. Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) or Customer Satisfaction Index (IKP) is used to measure the level of customer satisfaction with Perumda Tirta Pakuan. CSI reflects the overall level of customer satisfaction by paying attention to the level of importance and value of consumer performance on the attributes of the product or service used by consumers. Importance performance analysis (IPA) is a model used to analyze the extent of customer satisfaction. The level of performance and importance that is measured can determine the level of the customer satisfaction index for products and services.
Results of the Perumda Tirta Pakuan Kota Customer Satisfaction Survey :
• The Customer Satisfaction Index (IKP) for product services has a value of 73% and is included in the PUAS category.
• IKP for services has a value of 70% and is included in the PUAS category.
The highest product service IKP is 78%, which is in the satisfied category, is in Zone 2, while the lowest product service IKP is in the quite satisfied category at 62% and is in Zone 6.The highest service IKP is 70% which is in the satisfied category and is in Zone 4, while the lowest service IKP and is in the quite satisfied category is 62% and is in Zone 5 and Zone 6.
In general, Perumda Tirta Pakuan customers already feel SATISFIED with the service performance of the products and services offered. However, there are still things that must be followed up immediately so that the performance can improve in the following year. In product service, there are three elements that become the main priority in improving the performance of product services including elements of water flow quality during the dry season, elements of water quality during the rainy season, and elements of water quality related to clarity.
Meanwhile, in services, there are four priority elements including the element of complaint resolution, the element of justice in getting service, the element of ability social media and website admin officers, as well as elements of dispute resolution with customers.
The recommendations provided include general recommendations, product recommendations and service recommendations.
1. General recommendations include:
• Focusing on the elements contained in quadrant IV & paying more attention to elements that shift from quadrant I to quadrant IV.
• The efficiency of existing resources in elements shifting from quadrant I to quadrant II
• Required customer satisfaction surveys that are more detailed on the indicators of value (not good) and repeat from year to year
• Conduct regular surveys to understand change of consumer behavior (Mega Shift Consumer Behavior).
2. Product service recommendations include:
• Conducting more intensive field checks with the new normal approach
• Increase water resources in terms of quantity and quality
• Improve water drainage and distribution systems
• Ensure continuity of supply of water resources (especially now that consumers are more often at home)
• Improve the supervisory function on aspects that are of greater concern to customers.
3. Service recommendations include:
• Identify and maximize communication networks (digitization of communication media, systems and flow of web applications, applications, and social media)
• Providing training to human resources, especially related to increasing skills in the use of social media and social media-based call centers
• Provide early warning of disruptions
• Developing a Perumda Tirta Pakuan information and communication system
• Providing new normal services (shifting consumer behavior).
The last session was filled with discussions and questions and answers between the invitees and the media guided by the moderator.
Wednesday, December 9, 2020, the IPB Business School held socialization for Student Creativity Week activities with the theme of the activity “Mentoring for Proposal Writing and Tips for Passing PKM Funding in 2021”, this activity aims to provide direction on writing PKM proposals so that they pass the funding and pass PIMNAS. The event was held virtually through Zoom Meetings at 08.30-11.30 WIB and was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs for the IPB Business School, Dr. Ir. Idqan Fahmi, M.Ec.
The resource person for this activity is Dr. Wachyu Hari Haji, he is a national reviewer of PKM Kemendikbud, developer, reviewer of KBMI, ASMI, and KIBM Kemendikbud. In addition, he is a verifier of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s SMIKATMAWA.
The resource person explained the things that need to be considered based on the reviewer’s point of view. Tips for passing the selection include prioritizing quality. He also explained the reasons for the proposal being rejected, namely wrong format or administration (not according to the guidelines), the topic of the proposal that was frequently submitted, repeated or was very general, and the purpose of the proposal was not in accordance with the program field to be followed. The writing format is the first thing to be checked, the PKM writing format generally includes A4 layout with Left Margin: 4 cm; Top, Right, Bottom 3 cm, font, Times New Roman 12, Space, 1.15 (distance between paragraphs may not be 1.15), Page number, Table of contents: Bottom Right (i, ii, iii), Chapter 1 Introduction sd. Attachment: Top Right (1,2,3,4….), Number of Pages: Chapter 1 Introduction sd. Bibliography: Maximum 10 Pages.
After that, the resource person explained the writing format of 8 fields of Student Creativity Program (PKM) starting from PKM 5 fields (PKM Research, PKM Entrepreneurship, PKM Community Service, PKM Technology, PKM Creative Initiative), PKM Scientific Articles, PKM Written Ideas, and PKM Constructive Futuristic Ideas. Starting from the cover presentation and the validation sheet which is made separately, the writing systematics of each CHAPTER, the attachment of biographical data for applicants and members, the chairman’s statement letter, the team’s organizational structure, and bibliography. The activity was continued with a question and answer session, students asked about which ideas were more relevant to which field, and some students who had participated in PKM asked about their PKM ideas that did not pass PIMNAS and what factors made these ideas not pass.
After that, the activity was continued with a question and answer session and the announcement of the PKM proposal competition for the IPB Business School level.
The hope is that with this PKM socialization, SB IPB students can design proposals according to the latest PKM guidelines and get an understanding of preparing proposals from the perspective of the reviewer. Besides that, this socialization is also SB’s step to prepare proposals and the best teams are ready to take part in PKM and PIMNAS 2021.
IPB’s Business School held a socialization of Student Creativity Week activities with the theme of the activity “Inspiration for achievement through PKM”, this activity was one step to increase the creativity and innovation of SB IPB students. The speaker for this activity is Dr. Wachyu Hari, he is a national reviewer of PKM Kemendikbud, developer, reviewer of KBMI, ASMI, and KIBM Kemendikbud. In addition, he is a verifier of the Ministry of Education and Culture’s SMIKATMAWA.
The event was held virtually through Zoom Meetings on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at 19.30-21.30 WIB and was opened by the Dean of the IPB Business School, Prof. Dr. Ir. Noer Azam Achsani. MS. The event was hosted by the moderator, Asep Taryana, STP, MM. He is a KIBM Reviewer and a Jury for the KIBM award from the Ministry of Education and Culture.
At the beginning of the presentation, the speakers and audience interacted about whether they had heard or known about PKM. The majority of SB IPB lecturers and students already know PKM. After that, it continued to discuss PKM, the purpose of holding PKM, and the reasons why you had to follow PKM. Not only a general explanation, but also discussing the types of PKM to how to find ideas and inspiration to writing ideas for PKM proposals. The source of inspiration can be seen through public problems and anxieties so as to create solutions in the form of unique ideas or products. The things that need to be considered in determining ideas include the usefulness of ideas, uniqueness, attractiveness, providing innovation, specific novelty and references or data that can be obtained. The key word for student creativity is that the idea must be quirky, evolutionary, and challenging.
If you have an idea, write it down immediately, because according to him the idea is not considered to exist unless it has become a series of words. Usually ideas come from problems or there is a gap between the desired idea and actual reality.
There are 8 fields in the Student Creativity Program (PKM), including PKM 5 fields (PKM Research, PKM Entrepreneurship, PKM Community Service, PKM Technology, PKM Creative Initiative), PKM Scientific Articles, PKM Written Ideas, and PKM Constructive Futuristic Ideas. Dr. Wachyu explained each program area starting from criteria such as core activities, number of members, output or output, proposal substance, and characteristics of each program. For example in PKM Entrepreneurship, students are expected to be able to create an innovative product that has previously had a market survey and open market opportunities and does not become competitors for similar products which are community income, the proposal must be able to describe the opportunities and business plans that will be submitted, as well as the potential for sustainability. from Entrepreneurship PKM totaling 3 to 5 people, the output of this program is a progress report, a final report and scientific articles on business products.
The estuary of this PKM is PIMNAS (National Student Scientific Week), the steps towards PIMNAS starting from submitting proposals, selected proposals for funding and implementing programs, the next step is monev or monitoring evaluation, the results of this monitoring evaluation determine whether it passes or not. the team to PIMNAS. In the final session of the presentation, he explained the things that need to be considered in order to pass PIMNAS, including having communication skills: writing and presentation, obeying guidelines and discipline. After that, the activity was continued with a question and answer session and the announcement of the PKM proposal competition for the IPB Business School level.
The hope is that the holding of this PKM socialization can increase knowledge about PKM and provide inspiration and motivation to students to create ideas. In addition, this socialization is also SB’s step to prepare proposals and the best teams who are ready to take part in PKM and PIMNAS 2021.
On 20 October 2020, Mrs. Etty Susilowati agreed to share in the R63 and R64 Class R63 and R64 Capita Selecta Management and Business (KSMB) regarding Renewable Energy. He is the President Director of PT Jasa Tirta Energi as well as the commissioner, co-founder of PT Puri Lupine Indonesia, and PT Lupine Mitra Bakti Nusantara. Previously, he worked at Lupine Food Australia, PT Frontliner Indonesia, PT Amanu Bina Citra, PT PNM, and others. He completed his S1 from Trisakti University, S2 from UI, and S3 from SB-IPB University.
PT Jasa Tirta Energi (JTE) is a state-owned subsidiary of Perum Jasa Tirta I. JTE has two divisions, namely the energy division and the general services division. The energy division is one of the divisions assigned the task of developing the potential for water resources in the working area of Perum Jasa Tirta I into electrical energy. Meanwhile, the public services division has developed for more than 15 years in the fields of dredging, steel sheet pile (SSP) pulling out, heavy equipment rental, SSP rental, and water resources infrastructure management.
With the limitations of fossil energy, new and renewable energy (EBT) has become important alternative energy. The national energy policy targets NRE for around 23% of Indonesia’s total primary energy by 2025. EBT consists of various types such as solar, water, wind, geothermal, biomass, hydrogen, and nuclear power. Biomass can consist of biogas, bioethanol, biodiesel, bio charcoal, and organic waste. The priority of national energy development is maximizing the use of renewable energy, minimizing the use of petroleum, optimizing the use of natural gas and new energy, using coal as a mainstay of national energy supply, and utilizing nuclear as a last resort.
Currently, JTE is developing various power generation businesses that come from water, solar, wind or wind, and biomass such as biodiesel. There are still many potential new and renewable energy sources to be developed.
SB Visit is an annual activity held by BEM SB-IPB since 2017. This activity in collaboration with the marketing of SB-IPB is specifically for high school students to introduce IPB Business School to them. Due to high demand and requests from students, SB VISIT presents 3 batches starting this year.

Batch 3 or the last batch this year will be held on September 26, 2020. Due to the limited quota, this activity was only attended by 49 audiences from various regions, from North Sumatra to Nusa Tenggara. These audiences are not only high school students, but also include audiences from other university faculties who still want to study business as well as parents of students who have an interest in the only Business School in Bogor.

This activity is divided into 3 sessions. The first session was filled by Dr. Raden Dikky Indrawan, SP, MM as a lecturer at IPB Business School. This material is filled with current economic and business conditions which are very unstable but have potential and can generate many business opportunities that can be taken by true entrepreneurs. To contribute to this, IPB’s Business School is here to accommodate these future entrepreneurs by its motto, namely Creating New Entrepreneurs and New Ventures.

The next session was filled by Neldo Irawan as the IPB Ambassador for Business School in 2019. In this session, Neldo explained to the audience regarding the Business School profile, achievements, facilities, learning, and others. This session was warmly welcomed by the audience with many in-depth questions about IPB University’s Business School. After going through 2 material sessions, the audience was entertained by holding light games with official merch prizes from SB-IPB which were distributed exclusively to the winners with the highest points. Participants who are active during the activity will also receive prizes in the form of OVO balance.

The last session was filled by Cindy Taj Queena and Ihsan Fahmi as students of the IPB University Business School. They were present to give testimonials on how SB-IPB lecturers taught, shared business knowledge by providing business consultations, then explained the SB-IPB facilities that were able to meet all student interests and talents, to useful courses to practice while doing business. Cindy and Ihsan also shared their business experiences that they have done, which they are currently operating, and how they are dealing with the current pandemic conditions which also have an impact on their business. The audience’s enthusiasm for this session was very high with many and varied questions.
SB IPB, Bogor – Essential oil (Atsiri) currently growing as potential commodities for export, which historically was also target of the colonizers earlier. Indonesia is one of the world’s essential producers such as patchouli, cloves, cinnamon and fragrant lemongrass. M. Prayoga Sunandar a.k.a Yoga, a student of Master program of SB-IPB University realize and see this opportunities to develop essential business in his native region as well as one of essential’s producer area, Jambi.
He aware that lot of non optimal land utilized by the farmers. It commonly occur due to lack of farmers’ knowledge about essential as another potential commodity apart of oil palm and rubber. Moreover, farmers exchange rate (NTP) in those area is still low. Finding this fact, Yoga decided to convince the farmers to start planting essential and established CV Jambi Sentra Herbalindo. This startup business has running since 2018 which aim to grow economic independence by increasing NTP’s through planting essential commodities thus farmers have alternative choices for planted commodities. As a sociopreneur who has big dreams, Yoga obviously encounter many risks and obstacle. Besides of capital, limited farmers’ knowledge about essential oil make education and assistance for farmers are highly required thus the farmers will interest for planting essential commodities.
“Investments in equipments and materials are still challenging at the moment. Hence we try to collaborate between farmers since not all of them are affordable to buy seeds and equipments,” Yoga said. Furthermore, Yoga said that most important things of this business is not only focussing on quantity, but also on product’s quality. They presented a tool for production quality level checking since many farmers was fooled and considered their yield is not good if its cheap priced. Hence overall business process, starting from socialization, planting, production (refining, harvesting), until distribution has well planned.
During current Covid-19 pandemic, he admit that the business has affected as well. “Several factories was closed but it already gradually return to normal now. We decided to selling hand sanitizers since there is an increasing trend but it mixed with essential oil, so there would be a difference,” Yoga said. Various constraints and existing risks that faced by CV Jambi Sentra Herbalindo, the business remains survives despite the fact that abroad market has a distrust of Indonesia’s products. It motivated Yoga to develop traceability system for every produced product thus reducing fraud possibility and increasing trust from foreign markets against Indonesia’s essential business.
“We believe this is a huge potential since Europe’s essentials demand has rising, and it probably influenced by people who begin entered aging population so they tend to choose natural product. We also have owned organic certification which require to enter Europe’s market,” he said. Recently CV Jambi Sentra Herbalindo becomes raw material supplier for industries with 35 fostered farmers which offered products such as fragrant lemongrass, betel oil, and patchouli. CV Jambi Sentra Herbalindo has been also working with Science and Techno Park, IPB University who will mentored the business development. Furthermore, Yoga also following exporters program assistance held by Center for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) Netherlands to learn about reaching export market. Yoga’s decision for continuing his education in Master program of SB-IPB University is not aimless. He want to increase his knowledge regarding business strategy on agro-industry sector that he is currently doing, broading his network and relation, as well as knowing more in business-related insights globaly.
At the end of the interview, Yoga convey some messages for peer entrepreneurs, especially that just getting started. “Business is an art, it takes a long process to reach the success. Of course there would be a lot of hurdles, our job to think how we could endure, consistent, and planning good strategy,” he said. Then, Yoga also advised all peer who interested in exports business, “Indonesia own many potential commodities that can be exported, however the most important thing is we know who is our buyer to minimize constraints at a later time. Besides that, we also have to know properly about regulation in every country, countries’ needs, and maintain relationship with our abroad relatives and collegues.”
