SB-IPB Undergraduate Students donated 1000 Hand Sanitizers

Sharingyuk_co is a forum for online donations or fundraising (crowdfunding) for campaigns and social programs. Sharingyuk_co is a community activity of students who are currently studying undergraduate lectures at the IPB University Business School who are concerned about the condition of Indonesia which is currently being worried about the spread of the coronavirus outbreak. Sharingyuk_co saw an economic weakening due to the Covid-19 outbreak felt by informal sector workers and MSME players. Their fate is getting worse because of the PSBB policy and coupled with the decline in people’s purchasing power amid the pandemic. Last April, Sharingyuk_co helped the government prevent the spread of covid-19 through the 1000 hand sanitizer program for workers outside the home of us who are #DirumahAja. Seeing the condition of the City of Bogor and Jakarta, in this month of Ramadan, Sharingyuk_co is holding a social program to help revive the #berbagibangkitekonomi economy by empowering MSMEs by distributing direct assistance to informal sector workers who can turn the wheels of the economy, especially at the lowest levels of society such as buying packages basic food assistance from small stalls, ordering packaged rice from warteg and involving online motorcycle taxis in the distribution of assistance that will revive the community’s economy during the Covid-19 pandemic. The results of the fundraising that has been collected from #sobatberbagi will be managed by Sharingyuk_co whose output is in the form of 1000 packages of groceries, 1500 packages of takjil, and 600 packaged rice aimed at helping informal workers such as street vendors, casual workers and motorcycle taxi drivers in Tanah Sereal and Bubulak area, Bogor City and Cililitan, East Jakarta. Apart from making donations, #sobatberbagi can also spread the Sharingyuk_co social project through social media accounts so that more people will know about this donation platform, and Sharingyuk_co opens registration for MSME business actors affected by Covid-19 so they can be helped.

Alumni Profile: Herry Nugraha, S.Si, MM – CEO E-tanee

Herry Nugraha or who is often called Herry is one of the entrepreneurs born in Tanah Pasundan who is involved in the agribusiness sector. The start-up that was founded with 2 partners, namely E-tanee, was successfully entered as the Top 9 Accelerate Gojek Batch 3. E-tanee is an application that focuses on food and agricultural products. Starting from the problem, namely farmers and breeders who do not get good economic rights. E-tanee is one of 8 business units of the Perwiratama Group. Perwiratama Group is a company that has been successfully built in an integrated manner in the last 5 years because it includes business activities from upstream to downstream. Not only busy taking care of his business, Herry is also trusted to join the West Java BUMD (Regional Owned Enterprise) as one of the resource persons for guidance and to be the only representative of IPB. Herry also wants to contribute to the country by evaluating and planning a future roadmap. Before becoming an entrepreneur as he is now, this Cianjur-born man had worked in several companies before finally deciding to become an entrepreneur. Herry admitted that he felt a turning point when Herry got a work assignment to Europe. At that time, Herry also paid attention to the work culture of the people there and was moved to become entrepreneurial. In addition, Herry’s motivation to become an entrepreneur is because he wants to live more freely and flexibly. The path to becoming an entrepreneur as outlined by the Almighty brought Herry together with Cecep and Sahid. With their intentions and with complementary backgrounds, the three of them decided to establish Perwiratama Group.

Behind his success, this one entrepreneur admits that IPB’s Business School plays a role in shaping an entrepreneurial mindset, especially regarding competitive advantage and collaboration. With the mindset that has been taught, the impact is an understanding of dealing with problems, business competition, how to treat all stakeholders, and makes it easier to create value in the business and pay attention to every aspect of the value chain. “One of the subjects I feel the most important to apply in business is about Michael Porter’s competitive advantage. To be able to compete with other businesses, we must have a strong point to differentiate our products from other similar products, ”he said. In building a business for beginners, Herry suggests focusing and running a business collaboratively. Herry had experienced several failures in doing business such as cafes and pizza factories because he was not focused and everything was taken care of alone. However, this is not used as an obstacle to starting a business.

“Do it whenever it’s possible. Business is easy as long as you know how. Really, “he said with a smile. As an alumni of the IPB Business School, Herry hopes that the students will expand their network of connections. “But, if you are not ready to build a business, you can work first with the intention of learning and making that experience a provision when starting a business. Because, the real business is in the working place, not on campus. ” Even though now his business is getting more and more shining, Herry still remembers his grief when he was just starting to start a business because basically every business will inevitably experience a phase that is not smooth. “In business, we usually go through 4 stages. Forming or forming is the initial stage. After that, there is such a thing as the storming stage or the business chaos stage, usually at this stage the business person is tested whether he can solve the problem or give up halfway. If you can pass this stage, the next stage is norming or normal. After that, we will go to the performing or growth stage. “

Herry said that the storming stage is the stage where entrepreneur and non-entrepreneur can differentiate from their mentality. The traits that must be possessed by entrepreneurs include: drive (having great energy to grow), determination (having to be sure of what to do), persistent (persistent in trying), and resilience (resilience to any problem). To solve problems at the storming stage, you must be rational and professional. Herry has a principle that he always applies, namely ‘Think Big, Act Big’. “If the business wants to be big, you have to think big too. If our business is still a beginner but has a big mindset, gradually the business will adjust. Even if we want to work together with the big players because we have to take big steps, “he said. “Like E-tanee, which until today still wants to be developed even more, therefore we are also working with large companies and large financial institutions,” he continued.

For Herry, the most challenging thing in running a business is managing money because managing a business must also talk about managing cash flow. Starting from the capital that most people give up when they don’t have enough capital to do business. When asked for an opinion on financial strategy, Herry replied, “From the basic capital of the business, what is important to pay attention to is the initial cash flow to meet the needs of capital expenditure and working capital, it can be obtained from” other people “(use other people’s money, but non-bank. yes!), various sources, for example third parties (the public through the sharing economy model), angel investors and venture capital. As for the problem of managing finances, when we start doing business we must have a clear plan so that cash flow and profit and loss can be predicted. “

Herry and his two partners succeeded in bringing Etanee to further development and last month also had the opportunity to take part in Demo Days in front of 15 local and foreign venture capitals. Not only that, Etanee will also collaborate with the GoJek ecosystem and other startup finalists to the next growth stage. All of this can be achieved because of the founders who ‘Think Big, Act Big’. In terms of social impact, E-tanee will reshape or reconstruct the food industry to be more equitable and specific to agri-foods (agriculture-based food products). In addition, E-tanee also solves supply chain problems, thinking about how a good product can reach consumers at a fair price and economic players in each business chain get the price according to their business. When viewed financially, the ‘Think Big’ is about getting rich quickly.

“In doing business, we depend on what we think and do. Never have inferiority syndrome because everyone has more value. Having your own motivation and building your inner spirit is important because an entrepreneur must be independent, ”he said. The motivational sentence also closed the interview session.

Covid-19 a ‘A blessing in disguise’

In recent months Covid-19 has become the most popular word. How can not all feel the impact of Covid-19. City people, country people to the world. Family businesses to giants are all no exception. All “as if” the world order is already good, filled with many smart people and scientists, controlled by large companies with the latest technology and supported by an economic system which is said to have been established. But in fact everything “disappeared” when said late. Bung Didi Kempot. Everything seemed to be “silent” when Covid-19 broke out. Not without effort but helpless. No medicine has yet been found, the impact is inevitable. There is a term A blessing in disguise, in this case I interpret it as a blessing in disguise, it means something that at first looks bad or unpleasant, but turns out later on, produces something good.

Lately, people have started to realize and concentrate on the following things.

  1. Cleanliness is underestimated, so now the precedence,
  2. the government takes what, they say, is seen as helpless.
  3. Imported products are deified, now local products are missed.
  4. Working in the office is a motivator now working at home is a buffer.
  5. Crude oil becomes wetlands as if it were rubbish (of no value)

Some people say that the existence of Covid-19 is a moment to reorganize this world. It seems that this opinion is not too wrong. The world order and the country which are currently considered to be established actually need to rethink their existence. Crisis everywhere indicates that something is wrong in ordering the world. Reformer systems and movements begin to emerge towards the point of “new equilibrium”.

Changes in the new world order will emerge with various opportunities and innovations. This plague should at least awaken and awaken us. The government must be aware that in managing this country it must be comprehensive and integrated, not only from economic and political perspectives, but health, social, social, environmental, religious, and family life factors must be considered collectively.

The public must be increasingly aware of the importance of cleanliness. Another thing we should be aware of and be grateful for is that social life is beautiful, a few weeks at home without intense interaction is already very boring. Sharing the benefits between each other actually makes life more meaningful. On the other hand we also have to realize that at home we have a family, they still miss us at home. It turns out that at home can also be productive. Plague realizes that we must live in a balance between family and society.

For business people, the plague recognizes us that uncertainty will always be there. What is certain is the uncertainty. Even though many businesses have collapsed, this outbreak provides an opportunity for the emergence of new businesses that have not previously been thought of or were not thought of or underestimated. New business models and types will emerge in line with the adaptation of business people.

Academics must be aware that demanding and developing knowledge is never ending. It turns out that the existing and developing knowledge, both concepts, methods, systems and developed expertise, have not been able to answer what this viral cure means, which means we must continue to seek knowledge while having the courage to evaluate what is already running. Alhamdulillah, many new thoughts and expertise have begun to emerge due to the outbreak of this disease which hopefully will provide blessings and safety not only for the world but also for the hereafter.

It can be concluded that the Covid-19 outbreak is an A blessing in disguise, where on the one hand this outbreak must become our muhasabah and must continue to strive to accept, try and find a solution. On the other hand, this epidemic must be used as a moment for the formation of a “new balance” in which the emergence of a resurrection and a new way of ordering the world in the right order (redesign the future of the world).

The final note and the estuary of all of this is that we must realize that we, the community and the country, must not be proud of what we get today, we must be aware of who we are, there is still a sky above the sky. Uncertainty will continue to exist, what is certain is only the destiny of Allah. We must keep doing our best in accordance with His rules and accept the results with thanks to him.

The CEO Talk and Entrepreneurial Development Forum ‘Cognitive Enterprise’

The Capita Selecta Management and Business class Afternoon Class E70 was honored with the presence of Mr. Panji Wasmana who is the Chief Technology Officer of IPB Indonesia on April 18, 2020. In addition to formal education at the undergraduate and master level, IPB, he also received more than 35 informal certificates related to information technology (IT). With about twenty years of experience in the IT industry, he shared his experiences with the theme “Cognitive Enterprise”.

We may have heard the word “Cognitive Enterprise” often, or maybe someone has just heard of it. The journey of digital development marked by Artificial Intelligent (AI), blockchain, IoT and others has had an impact on companies, even if the impact is exponential. This development capability is applied within the company, not only at the scale of the business but also on changes to the core business and its processes. This development phenomenon was called “Cognitive Enterprise” by the IBM team in 2018.

In the white paper “Building the cognitive enterprise: a blueprint for AI-powered transformation” issued by the IBM Institute for Business Value, three business models have emerged with each of them. three key components of success. First is the “Market-making Business Platforms” business model with three key components of success, namely (1) double down on “Big Bets”, (2) create a new business blueprint, and (3) orchestrate compelling change. The second is the “Intelligent Workflows” business model with three key components to success, namely (1) embed exponential technologies, (2) drive value from data, and (3) deploy through hybrid multi cloud. Finally, the “Enterprise Experience and Humanity” business model with three key components of success, namely (1) elevate human-technology partnerships, (2) cultivate smart leadership, skills and culture, and (3) perform with purposeful agility.

Panji explained this by providing an overview based on his experience while working in the technology industry. The students were enthusiastic, some alumni and the general public also joined online.

CEO Talk and Entrepreneurial Development Forum “Business During Corona: How to survive?”

Audy Joinaldy, who is the Chairman of the Perkasa Group and Lintas Agro Group, is pleased to provide experience in doing business with students of the morning class Masters Program class R62 and R63 on April 14, 2020 in the Capita Selecta Management and Business (KSMB) course with the theme “Business during corona: how to survive? ”. Audy has received various academic degrees from IPB, Wageningen University, Hasanuddin University, and Gadjah Mada University. Audy is also active in various organizations, as the General Chairperson of the Alumni Association of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB, Deputy Chairperson for Institutional and Public Relations of Pinsar Indonesia, Deputy Chairperson of PAPMM and others.

Audy presented a macroeconomic overview such as economic growth, trade volume growth, purchasing manager indexes, inflation, exchange rates and others. A world development marked by tension, conflict and uncertainty is a challenge for the business world. On the other hand, population growth provides business opportunities. From the industrial side, there are several sectors that have experienced a decline, such as newspapers, restaurants and others, and there are several that have experienced growth such as the internet, online publishing and others.

With the Covid-19 pandemic, there are business sectors that have the potential to win such as agriculture, e-commerce, ICT and others, while those that have the potential to decline are tourism, aviation, automotive and others. Facing the Covid-19 pandemic, businesses must focus on four things, namely: (1) protect your employees, (2) set up a cross-functional Covid-19 response team, (3) ensure that liquidity is sufficient and (4) stabilize the supply chain. Business steps that must be taken immediately are: (1) stay close to your customers, (2) practice the plan, and (3) demonstrate the purpose. Audy explained her experience of trying to stay close to customers such as making direct sales because of falling prices. Students submit questions and also experiences through active interaction even though they are submitted online.
